Hand thrown plate; oxidation fired to cone 6.
Medium dessert plate with a gently upturned outer lip. Made of deep red clay and glazed in curves on the inside with a bright blue glaze. The exposed red clay contrasts nicely with the bright blue clay.
Approximate Size, Diameter: 7" to 7.5 Height: .5" to .75"
The exposed clay has been sealed with food safe liquid quartz to add a little extra prtection, from their website: "Made from SiO2 (or Silicon Dioxide/Silica), a naturally occurring oxide & one of the most abundant minerals found in the Earth’s crust, most commonly in the form of Quartz. It is used extensively in the production of glass, glazes, underglazes, clay body stains as well as terracotta, earthenware, stoneware & porcelain clays. It is highly abrasion resistant (7 on the Mohs scale) & thermal shock absorbing.
